Mignarda, a professional ensemble internationally renowned with ten critically-acclaimed recordings, is seeking Cleveland area vocalists and/or instrumentalists for upcoming projects performing historical sacred and secular music of the late 15th- through the early 17th century. Having recently relocated to Cleveland, we are interested in collaborating with a few dedicated area musicians willing to commit to the time it takes to attain our very high standard of ensemble, interpretation and performance.

Mignarda's deep and engaging performances, workshops and lecture-recitals have a loyal following across the US, and we have attracted the interest of and garnered unsolicited words of praise from prominent international figures in early music including Anthony Rooley of the Consort of Musicke and Marco Beasley of Accordone. Since we spend the time it takes to attain a very high standard, we are interested in working with compatible, collegial and committed professionals, and less interested in divas with full calendars.

Our ideal small vocal ensemble includes a treble voice with a flexible lower range and also comfortable with the occasional high G, one or two high tenors, and a baritone-bass with strong low notes. Vocalists who also play early plucked or bowed strings are most welcome to audition.

Since we place a great deal of emphasis on texts, a working familiarity with singing in Latin, French, Italian and English is helpful. Flexible voices with the ability to blend in ensemble without vibrato and without inflexible pitch reference are preferred. Sight-singing ability is important but musicality, the ability to absorb interpretive musical details, a firm commitment to rehearsal, and the desire to cultivate and maintain a friendly, efficient and professional working relationship is even more important.
